Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers about Kinaptic, the programme and what happens next.

What Is Kinaptic?

Kinaptic is a UK early-stage company building a readiness-led learning companion for neurodivergent children aged about 4 to 11 and their families. It focuses on learning readiness: the conditions that help a child get into learning at a particular moment. Kinaptic was founded in 2026 and is currently testing its first prototype with Founding Families.

Who Is Kinaptic For?

Kinaptic is for parents and carers of neurodivergent children aged about 4 to 11, starting in the UK. It is designed for families whose child can learn but finds it hard to get started. Over time, we hope what we learn can also help teachers, practitioners and learning providers support each child.

What Is Learning Readiness?

Learning readiness describes the conditions that help a particular child get into learning at a particular moment. It depends on the child, the activity, the setting and the moment itself, such as the time of day or what happened just before. At Kinaptic it is a way of understanding, not a score, label or diagnosis.

Does Kinaptic Diagnose Children?

No. Kinaptic does not diagnose, assess or label children, and it is not a medical or therapy product. It observes patterns in how a child gets started with learning, so families can better understand what seems to help. It is designed to sit alongside, never replace, the judgement of parents, teachers and professionals.

Is Kinaptic An AI Tutor Or A Learning App?

No. Most learning apps adapt the lesson once a child is already learning. Kinaptic starts one step earlier, at the path into learning: what helps this child begin. We use technology, including AI, to help spot patterns, but people stay in charge of every decision.

Who Is Kino?

Kino is the friendly guide in Kinaptic's prototype learning activity, Kino's Pattern Path. Kino helps children through short, calm activities at home. Kinaptic Worlds, shown on our site, is an early visual concept of where Kino could go; it is not the current prototype.

What Is The Founding Families Programme?

The Founding Families programme is Kinaptic's first structured prototype programme, in which families help shape the product from the start. It began in late September 2026 and runs through the rest of the year. Children take part in short learning sessions at home, and parents share what they notice.

What Does My Child Do?

Your child takes part in short learning sessions at home, with about 5 to 8 minutes of learning time each. They use one simple activity, Kino's Pattern Path, which stays the same throughout, so we can learn how your child gets started from one session to the next. There are no scores or timers for your child to see.

What Do Parents Do?

Parents help their child start each session and answer a quick check-in afterwards. From time to time we may ask for a short conversation about what you have noticed. Your knowledge of your child is part of the evidence: you know things about your child that no system can see.

How Often Are The Sessions?

We agree a rhythm that suits your family's week. Sessions are short and work best at a similar time of day, but family life comes first. You can pause whenever you need to.

Is My Child Being Tested?

No. Your child is not being tested; the idea is. The programme tests whether Kinaptic’s approach is useful for families. There are no pass marks, scores or comparisons with other children.

Can We Stop At Any Time?

Yes. You can pause or stop at any time, without giving a reason. Sessions also stop if your child does not want to continue or seems distressed. Your child's comfort always comes before the research.

Does It Cost Anything?

Kinaptic is confirming whether taking part in the Founding Families programme is free, and what may happen after the programme.

Who Can Join?

Families in the UK with a neurodivergent child aged about 4 to 11 can register their interest. Kinaptic is confirming whether a formal diagnosis is needed. Places are limited while the programme is small.

How Do I Join?

Register your interest with the short form on our website, and the founder will contact you personally. We talk through what is involved, answer your questions and help you get set up. Registering does not commit you to anything.

What Information Does Kinaptic Collect?

Kinaptic collects only what it needs to learn whether its approach is useful and safe. On our website that means your contact details. In the programme it includes how your child interacts with the activity, such as when and how they start, plus your short check-in answers. We do not collect diagnoses through the website.

Where Is My Family's Data Stored, And Who Sees It?

We handle Founding Families programme data in accordance with UK GDPR. We operate a data minimisation policy, collecting only what is necessary for the programme. All Founding Families programme data is anonymised and is not shared with any third parties. Adult contact details used to respond to registrations are handled separately, as explained in our privacy notice.

Can I Ask You To Delete Our Data?

Yes. You can ask us to delete your family’s data at any time by contacting us. Our privacy notice explains your rights under UK data protection law and how we handle requests.

Is Kinaptic Proven To Work?

Not yet, and we say so plainly. Kinaptic is at an early, evidence-building stage. The Founding Families programme exists to test the solution. We are not including early parent research figures until the question wording and denominator have been verified.

How Does Kinaptic Use AI?

Kinaptic uses AI as a tool to help spot patterns, never as a replacement for parents, teachers or professionals. Any suggestion should be understandable and open to human judgement. What matters is what changes for the child and family, not the technology.

Who Is Behind Kinaptic?

Kinaptic was founded by Adam Preis, who brings more than 15 years of technology, product and go to market leadership. The idea grew from something deeply personal: seeing first hand that a capable child can find it hard to access learning when the conditions around them are not right. Adam is completing an Executive MBA at King’s College London, and an advisory board with expertise in educational psychology, occupational therapy and service design supports the work, alongside contributors in data science and community-based marketing. Kinaptic is part of the King’s Startup Accelerator, Cohort 10, and was a King’s Idea Factory finalist.

Can Teachers, Therapists And Psychologists Get Involved?

Yes. We welcome practitioners who would like to share their expertise or follow the programme. Kinaptic is non-diagnostic and built to sit alongside professional judgement. Get in touch through our contact page.

Does Kinaptic Work With Schools?

Not yet. Kinaptic is starting with families at home, while talking with school leaders about how teachers could be involved later. Any work with schools will follow evidence from the Founding Families programme.

How Can Researchers, Partners Or Investors Get In Touch?
