Our approach

How Kinaptic Works

A non-diagnostic, evidence-building approach to understanding what helps a child get into learning. We call it Access Before Adaptation.

For practitioners and researchers

The Model Behind Kinaptic

Built to sit alongside professional judgement. Here is what we are testing, and how.

Access Before Adaptation

TheMomentThe Childat this moment in timeLearningActivityLearningSetting
Informed by the Person, Environment, Occupation (PEO) framework. Readiness is something we observe over time, not a state we detect.

Principles We Hold To

One simple outcomeDoes the child start without support, start with support, or not start?
Observation is not interpretationWe record what happened, and never infer hidden states.
Non-diagnostic by designNo readiness scores, labels or diagnoses.
Decisions written down in advanceEach stage has rules agreed before we look at results.

What We Are Testing

Kinaptic is at an early, evidence-building stage. The Founding Families programme is testing whether our approach is useful and safe, and which insights parents find genuinely useful.

We observe what happens across the child, the activity, the setting and the moment. We record what happened, not an interpretation of a child’s inner state.
